Term 1

Trip To Betteshanger

This term we went on a trip to Betteshanger to focus on our PE topic of orienteering.

We started off the day by being split into two groups. One group went and did battle archery and the other did mountain biking around the trails of Betteshanger. After we had spent time on these activities, we swapped over, everyone having a go at both.

After lunch, we did orienteering. We were given a map of the park and were tasked with finding small way markers around the park. We raced but decided to call it a draw in the end.

Space

This term we have been learning about space. We started by researching a planet in our solar system and created a fact file. We also stretched our artistic muscles and created pictures of our planets too.

We have been learning: the reasons we have day and night; why we have seasons; the order of the planets; what shape the planets are; and how far away from the Sun the planets actually are.

When discussing the distance of the planets from the Sun, we converted every centimetre into 500,000 km. We discovered that Neptune would be 84.55 meters away.
